Tylor
Tylor (ejtsd: tájl'r) Eduárd Burnett, angol antropologus, szül. Camberwellben 1832 okt. 2-án. Különösen az emberi fajok s azok történetének, nyelvének és civilizációjának tanulmányozására adta magát. 1871. a Royal Society fellow-jává választják, 1883. pedig az oxfordi egyetemi muzeum igazgatójává nevezik ki, ahol felolvasásokat is tart. Egyben T. az angol antropologiai társaság elnöke. Művei: Anahuac or Mexico and the Mexicans (London 1861); Researches into the history of mankind (1865); Primitive culture; researches into the development of mythology, philosopthy, religion, art and custom (2 köt., 1871); Anthropology, az introduction to the study of man and civilisation (1881).
