Dasent
Dasent (ejtsd: déz'nt), György Webbe, sir, angol tudós és iró, szül. Londonban 1818. A Kings-Collégeben és a Magdalen Hallban Oxfordban tanult. 1852. ügyvéd lett. Egy időn át a Times segédszerkesztője volt, 1870. Civil-Service-Commissionerré neveztetett ki, 1871. pedig Frasernek: Magazine cimü folyóirata szerkesztését vette át. D. az északnak és Izlandnak egyik legalaposabb ismerője. Művei: Teophilus Eutyehianus from the original Greck in Icelandic, Low German, and other languages (1845); The Norsemen in Iceland (1858); Popular tales from the Norse (1859); The story of Burnt Njal (1861); The story of Gisli the outlaw (1866); The Vickings of the Baltic, a tale of the X. century (1875). stb.
