Ludolf
Ludolf Jób, német orientalista, szül. Erfurtban 1624 jan. 15., meghalt M. m. Frankfurtban 1704 ápr. 8. Tanulmányai befejeztével nagy utazást tett; megfordult Rómában is, hol egy Gregorius nevü afrikaitól megtanulta az aethiopiai nyelvet. Később a gothai trónörökös tanítója, utóbb udvari tanácsos lett. Művei: Historia Aethiopica (1681) Commentariusszal (1691); Grammatica Amharicae Linguae (1698); Lexicon Amharico-Latinum (1698); Lexicon Aethiopico-Latinum (1661) és ennek függelékeképen: Syllabus vocum harmonicarum c. becses nyelvtudományi gyüjtemény. (Neve Leutholf alakban is fordul elő.)
