Mendrisio, az ugyanily nevü járás (102 km2 ter., (1888) 20 931 lak.) székhelye Tessin svájci kantonban, 14 km.-nyire Luganótól, a Generoso lábánál, 363 m.-nyi magasban, vasút mellett, (1888) 2872 lak., selyemszövéssel és dohánygyárral.
