Sweet (ejtsd: szvit) Henrik, angol nyelvtudós, szül. 1845 szept. 15. Az oxfordi egyetemen tanult s főleg a hangfiziologiával foglalkoztt. Oxfordban magister artium lett, a heidelbergai egyetem tiszteletbeli filozofiai doktottá, a glasgowi egyetem tiszteletbeli jogi doktorrá nevezte ki. Fő művei: Anglo-Saxon reader (6. kiad.
