Populus
Populus, a római polgárság, mely eleinte csak patriciusokból állt (populus Romanus Quirites v. Quiritium). Servius Tullius alkotmányánál fogva a plebejusok is polgárokká lőnek s mint ilyeneket őket is felölelte a p. fogalma. Plebs helyett ritkán s csak későn fordul elő populus. CS. JÓ.
