E család a Zud* nemzetségből eredt, (de genere Zud). E nemből Bik-nek fia volt Jakab, Jakabnak Simon a nagynak nevezett, – kit Zemplin vármegyei Szada – hajdan Zoda helységnek birtokában V. István ifjabb király 1270-ben erősitett meg*.
